Transforming your vision into a design that gets built as the home of your dreams can be decidedly difficult.   Most people have a hard time articulating exactly what they want. With enough input, a good architect should be able to translate your thoughts and ideas into a set of drawings that represents your vision. This is usually a fairly passive process of information interpretation. The exceptional architect, however, will play a more dynamic role in the creative process of interpreting, testing and perfecting your dream, long before the final drawings are rendered. This makes the final “product” the very best it can be. 

 
Craig Johnson is that rare architect who can start with your simple statement, “I’ll know it when I see it”, and be able to deliver what you had in mind. However, there will be adjustments and improvements that you’ll not have initially considered. Craig takes you through a ten step process that begins with your initial ideas, then progresses through his imaginative “what if” challenges and suggestions that ultimately offer inventive choices for creating the unique spaces, character and outstanding livability you seek.

Wright’s ideas.   The most essential was that a home should fit the site and surroundings.   Craig’s homes do that and more. His designs always maximize the property’s positive features and minimize the negative. 
 
Craig regards himself a sculptor of shapes and surfaces, having the exceptional ability to “think in three dimensions”. He’s been labeled “THE steep slope specialist” and admits that he loves the challenge of fitting an envisioned dream home onto impossibly difficult terrain. His detail oriented work has encompassed very diverse architectural styles and each has exquisite geometric balance. They offer visual interest when viewed from any elevation: front, back or sides. 
 
Craig’s designs have won him ‘MAME’ Awards and other accolades have also been bestowed for his ‘Street of Dreams’ show homes. His prior experiences as an accomplished home builder, including multiple ‘Street of Dreams’ projects, have given him the insight to create better designs, formulate practical applications, resolve issues and produce final drawings that are easy to understand by both you and your builder. His “real world” knowledge of construction costs help you make the design choices that can keep your budget on track.

To relax, Craig practices his hobby of woodworking, building furniture and hand crafted millwork. He’s an avid reader of fiction, nonfiction and architecture related literature. He and his wife enjoy escaping to sunny climates whenever possible.
